Being a mom is tough. You have to balance work and life while taking care of your children. Being a mom for over 16 years, I have learned alot! One of my top lessons is that I felt at times like I did not have support. I now understand that I feel that way because I don’t see how much help is around, if I just ask. It’s not easy but it’s worth it in the end.

Here are the Top 5 Lessons I’ve Learned as a Mom and an Entrepreneur

1. You are not alone

One of the first things I learned when I became a mother was that it is possible to have a successful career and be the best mom. You are not alone in your journey. You are not alone as a mom and an entrepreneur. Here are some tips that other mompreneurs shared that worked for them. Firstly, you need to find work that accommodates your lifestyle. Then, you should put together a good support team for yourself – including childcare providers, family members or friends, and mentors or coaches. You also need to set up routines around your business and personal life so they all work together well.

2. Find your symmetry. Its YOUR journey

We all have to find the balance that suits us best. If you are a mom who likes to be in control then a flexible schedule might be for you. If you are on a mission, go for it and don’t worry about what people think of your choices. Don’t feel like you need to ask permission from others or fit into any certain mold. You are the expert of your life, so create your own path and take control where you need to. It’s always okay to change your mind if it’s not working out- that’s why we call it a “journey”.

3. Your child will teach you more than you ever learned in school

You think your child is just a small human who needs to be taken care of and brought up like a normal person. You don’t know that they are so much more than that! They will teach you more than you ever learned in school, and they might even teach you the meaning of life.

Children are born teachers – they learn from the world around them and teach us how to do the same. The love and care children need from their parents is only one part of it – children also need to be able to be themselves, explore their surroundings, create, imagine and play!

They are curious beings who want to know everything about themselves, their surroundings and the world at large. They have so much life experience just by being alive! Embrace their unapologetically truthful conversations and learn from some of their suggestions.

My daughter would say, “Mom, get off your computer and let’s go on a girls day.” I may feel like my work is more important, but what she is really saying is no, she is more important, and that’s the truth!

4. A happy healthy family is worth all the hard work

The benefits of a happy family are endless. There is no worth more than the value that a family brings to your life. A happy, healthy family is worth all the hard work and sacrifices.

Work-life balance is one of the first things that comes to mind when we think of a happy and healthy family. Moms often sacrifice their time and energy by working long hours so they can provide for their children. Moms are often the backbone of a family.

Moms have different responsibilities when it comes to maintaining a happy and healthy environment for their children.

5. Take care of yourself before anything else

It would be so easy to think about others before ourselves. When we worry about somebody else, it is because we love them or care for them. However, in order for us to take care of others, it is important that we take care of ourselves first.

In this busy world, there are so many moms who are trying to take care of themselves and others at the same time. Maybe they are working a lot or are having mental health challenges. But if they do not take care of themselves first and foremost then what hope do any of us have?

It does not matter what your situation might be, if you do not take care of yourself first then you will never be able to be the best version of yourself for anyone else or for life itself.

In order to be the best mom you can be, you must first focus on yourself. If you are not taking care of your mental and physical health then it will eventually take a toll on your relationships. You might have a great career and business with lots of money, but if you are not living life to the fullest then what is the point?

I hope this week’s blog was of value to you. Let me know in the comments below one thing being a mom and an entrepreneur has taught you.
